Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Pixelation, color reduction, grading and export all happen locally in your browser — files are never uploaded to any server, secure and fast.

How should I set "pixel-block size" and "colors"?

Pixel-block size controls how many source pixels merge into one block — larger means chunkier and more abstract; colors uses median cut to reduce the image to a limited palette — fewer colors gives a more retro pixel feel, while "unlimited" keeps all colors. Set block size first, then lower colors and add some dithering.

What is the difference between the three sampling modes?

Center: takes each cell's center pixel — sharpest but noise-prone; Average: alpha-weighted mean of the cell — smoothest gradients; Median: per-channel median — balances noise resistance and sharpness, great for line art and icons.

What is the difference between the "upscaled pixel image" and the "raw grid"?

The upscaled pixel image keeps the original size and uses nearest-neighbor scaling to show hard-edged blocks — ideal for display; the raw grid is the true 1:1 pixel resolution (e.g. 64×64), tiny in size and ideal as a game asset or for further editing.
